Patterns, Charts, Yarn substitution, Ease, Huh?

Want to make something beyond a potholder or knit-to-the-end of the skein scarf? This class covers the basics of interpreting patterns and the information that we find in them. We will explain and reveal such pattern information as – pattern gauge, ball band gauge, yarn substitution, and ease.  Want to try a lace pattern?  We will learn how to read charts.  For those who are interested, bring your tablets for a special Knit Companion (a free app) tutorial.  Leave ready to understand and try new patterns with confidence.

Level:  knitters must be able to knit, purl, and cast on.

Materials: 2 skeins worsted weight smooth yarn – preferably very different colors, Size US 7 or 8 needle, basic knitting supplies, crochet hook several sizes, very sharp scissors. Tablet if desired.
