Shawl Recipes – Recipes and Riffs – a look at basic shawl shapes and how to knit them – Session 1

Instructor: Winn Archambeau-Muñoz

Saturday, September 18th;  9:00am – 12:00pm

Have you ever seen the most gorgeous yarn and just wanted to start working with it right away?  Were you worried that you did not know how to go about it? In this class we will explore  fundamental shawl shapes and recipes to make them:  rectangles, squares, triangles, crescents, circles, and semicircles. Then we will see how changing numbers and placements of increases can transform basic shapes into interesting and original pieces.

We will make mini samples of selected ones so that you will have experience and an example of the transformations. This will allow you to select the design you want and make your own shawl. Yardage and stitch numbers for your original will be determined based on your selections.

Level: Must be comfortable knitting, purling, and casting on.

Materials: About 50 yards of DK or worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles for your yarn, stitch markers, pencil, paper and usual knitting supplies.

Note: 10% off materials and supplies

Cost: $70 for 2 sessions
