DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Interlace Knitting\nInstructor: Winn Archambeau-Muñoz \nThursday\, November 14th; 10:00am-2:00pm \nHave you ever admired the seemingly woven textured of entrelac knitting and thought\, “I could never do that!”? If you can knit and purl\, you CAN DO entrelac.  Just by working on a small number of stitches at a time we will create the slanted rectangles that deceive the eye.  This is a technique that is much easier to learn by doing than reading! \nIn this class we will learn how to make an entrelac swatch of a base of 3 triangles\, several rows of right side and wrong side rectangles which can be continued to be knit into a cow (or other rectangular pattern). Other techniques (including picking up stitches\, increasing stitches and decreasing on the purl and knit side\, even knitting backwards!) will be demonstrated as needed. \nLevel:  knitters must be able to knit\, purl\, and cast on. \nMaterials: 2 skeins worsted weight smooth yarn – preferably very different colors\, Size US 7 or 8 needle\, basic knitting supplies. \nNote: 10% off materials and supplies \nCost: $35

We will cover ways to hide and to weave in ends. Learn some short-cuts to take and some not to take so you will leave ready to finish you projects beautifully. Never let another lovely piece of knitting be left sitting unfinished. \nLevel: must be able to knit and purl. \nTools: worsted weight yarn\, US 7 or 8 needles\, crochet hook\, curved tapestry needle\, markers\, and regular knitting supplies \nHomework: Bring any project you have questions about. You can choose to make it short or tunic length. Because it is knit in the round after the top is done\, you can try it on to make your tee fit you perfectly. The design is for a boxy lace top that is knit to the width of your hips. You will have a variety of 6-8 open stitches to combine in your own design. In this class we map out the pattern to fit your size\, practice the designs you select\, and you leave with your top planned and started! Come in early if you want to select your yarn. We will be making a dropped shoulder tee with interesting patterns that include twisted dropped stitch and others that are easily memorized and work up quickly. \nLevel: must be able to: knit and purl\, cast-on and bind-off; increase and decrease and knit in the round. \nTools: 600 – 1\,000 yards depending on the weight of yarn you choose and how long you want to make it. DK or worsted would be fine.  Consider cotton or linen for summer or wool if it is for winter. DESCRIPTION:Short Rows Unraveled\nInstructor: Winn Archambeau-Muñoz \nTuesday\, August 13th; 1:30pm-4:30pm \nShort rows can be found in so many patterns from shawls to wraps\, shoulder shapings to socks\, and more. Wrap and turn is the method that usually is requested in the pattern\, but there are several other methods that I think are easier to knit up and are nearly invisible from both sides (which is important for shawls or cowls). \nIn this class we will learn the German Short row method. Other techniques will be demonstrated\, and we will learn how to translate the wrap and turn method into a much easier technique. We will make two or three samples that apply the German short row method: \n\nA basic example of short rows in knitting and purling\nA hemisphere that can turn into a pincushion\nA Swing pattern\n\nLeave the class ready to incorporate German short rows into your future knitting projects. A free Swing pattern will allow you to practice this great technique or you can bring your own pattern using short rows. \nLevel: must be able to knit and purl. \nTools: worsted weight yarn\, which is best for practicing\, along with appropriate size needles (US size 7 or 8)\, regular knitting supplies\, a crochet hook\, curved tapestry needle\, stitch markers – pin variety and slip on kind\, and regular knitting supplies. \nHomework: None \nNote: 10% off materials and supplies for class \nCost: $35 single session

Pick Yours!\nInstructor: Winn Archambeau-Muñoz \nTuesday\, July 30th; 1:30pm-4:30pm \nSo many projects are made in the round from hats and socks to sweaters and just about anything. \nWe will learn the 3 basic methods of knitting in the round: \n\nDouble-pointed needles (DPNs)\n2 circulars\nMagic loop\n\nWe will practice casting on\, joining\, knitting\, and binding off in the round.  Pick your favorite method and leave with the beginning of a mitt (pattern provided or Interweave – Fall 2019 has great mitt patterns.) and start on your own circular project. \nLevel: must be able to knit and purl. \nTools: For practice please bring worsted weight yarn\, a set of DPNs\, 2 circular needles (1 of any length and 1 at least 32 inches in length). Your needle size should be appropriate for the yarn (US 7 or 8).  The mitt pattern is for worsted weight. If you want to start a different project\, also bring the necessary yarn with appropriate needles.
