My First Sweater

You have learned so many techniques it is time to make a sweater. In this class we will make a child’s sweater from start to finish:
- Yarn selection
- Gauge swatch
- Design shaping (cardigan, pull-over, collar, – all your choice)
- Details
- Finishing
All the elements we learn will apply to an adult size garment.
Level: must be able to knit and purl, cast-on, bind-off, increase, and decrease.
Tools: 600 yards of worsted weight superwash yarn that knits to 5 sts to the inch. Appropriate needles (US 7 or 8), stitch holders, stitch markers (locking and ring), crochet hook, tapestry needle, scissors, and regular knitting supplies.
Homework: Bring the yarn you wish to make the sweater out of. Come before class if you do not have the necessary materials and need to wind the yarn. If you wish to make an adult sweater, let me know.
