Toe-Up Sock Basics – Session 1
Instructor: Winn Archambeau-Muñoz
Tuesday, August 10th; 11:30am – 2:30pm
Toe-Up Sock Basics – is designed to teach you the basics of making a sock beginning at the toe using a worsted weight (No 4), 5 stitches- to- the- inch yarn. For needles use a US 7 or 8 and choose your favorite method for working a small circumference in the round (double pointed needles, 24 in circular needle for magic loop, Flexi Flips or 2 circular needles).
We will make a single miniature toe-up sock that you can use as your model. We will cover Judy’s Magic Cast-on, increases, decreases, making a gusset, short-row heels, heel flaps, and stretchy bind offs. This one sock will be a small version of what a regular sock would look like and use all the skills necessary for a full-size toe-up sock. The class includes a follow-up session to help you trouble shoot and plan or begin your actual sock project. Socks make a super great summer or travel knitting project because they are easily carried, can get you started on your holiday gift list and can be as simple or as complex as you like.
